Blue V factory
Decorator, Wholesaler and Retailer of China, 1818 to 1825

Welcome to our Blue V Factory Gallery.
This is a work in progress dedicated to documenting the patterns associated with this pottery

Background
The Blue V Factory is introduced in the 2025 NCS Journal, where it is tentatively identified with Ralph and James Clews. The Journal article describes common characteristics of Blue V decoration and discusses the relationship of pottery suppliers who provided undecorated china for Blue V’s embellishment. To support identification efforts, the Journal article illustrates examples of china produced and sold directly by these potteries highlighting shared shapes and forms that connect them to Blue V-decorated wares. Gallery
This gallery more fully illustrates the range of work associeted with Blue V decoration. Each image is labelled with a pattern number, the shape of the piece, and, where known, the supplier pottery. NOTE pattern 1386 is recorded in 2 different patterns for which there is no current explanation.

Viewing the gallery
The gallery is divided into Blue V pattern sections for each supplier pottery. Where there is more than one supplier for a pattern, supplier sections duplicate the patterns.  You may scroll down to view all the images or if you want to see a particular section, click on the name below and it will take you directly to that part of the gallery.

New Hall. The Blue V factory used a wide range of suppliers for their china blanks.  They did not use New Hall porcelains but they did copy some popular New Hall patterns, these can be found on tea and dessert sevices composed of shapes from various factories.  For a full discussion of this, see the Journal article by clicking on the link below.
